Directory Definitions
YP
Students - AFS students from other countries who are experiencing
a year in the USA.
First
Family Fling - An event for the entire family, held in late August.
Usually in late afternoon or evening.
Rieger
Retreat - A very important and enjoyable activity held at Camp Shawnee.
It includes a fun and worthwhile orientation for AFS students and host
sibs. Games, fook and dancing are included during this Saturday and part
of Sunday weekend. (Families join the program at 10:15 a.m. Sunday)
Short
Term Stays - AFS students visit a different school and a different
family from Thursday through Sunday, for the purpose of giving the student
a varies experience. It is an opportunity to stimulate interest in prospective
host families, and for the students to become acquainted with people outside
of their hosting communities.

Entertainment and dinner a part of the event.
Jewish
Sabbath - An opportunity for AFSers and Host sibs to observe a service
in a synagogue, as well as enjoying the hospitality of a dinner with a
family of the Jewish faith.
Swim/Yearbook
Party - AFS students and host sibs will enjoy a wonderful day at Lake
Weatherby. Swimming, signing yearbooks and dinner are included.
Final
Family Fling - A gathering for entire family. It is an opportunity
for signing yearbooks, taking pictures, and bidding fond farewells.
